Types of Masters Degrees in the UK

Coursework based

 

Mode: the duration of the course is generally one year, with lectures, seminars and theses

Purpose: to provide an academic basis for employment

Academic Requirements:

  1. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum grade point average of 65-85 at the bachelor’s level, depending on the school and program.
  2. Must provide a bachelor’s degree and diploma, and students who are enrolled in the program may provide relevant proof of enrollment.
  3. At least two years of work experience is additionally required if the student is a three-year full-time college student.

Language requirements:

Diploma student applies for Preparatory Course for Graduate Studies
The most common pathway for diploma graduates to choose to study in the UK is a one-year or six-month pre-graduate course, bridging to a one-year master's course in the UK. It will be a maximum of two years and a minimum of one and a half years can lead to a master's degree in the UK. The length of the pre-graduate study is determined by the students' English scores, usually the one-year pre-graduate course require IELTS 5.5 points, and if the students get 6 points of IELTS, the half-year pre-graduate course will be articulated.
